Sticky drooping fondant decos.

Nine days ago I made a bunch of fondant stars. They finally dried, but today after two days of humidity they are a soft, sticky mess. They can't even be piicked up.
What do I do to restore them? Is there any hope? A few more days of hot humid weather are expected. I need them for July 4th. I never had this happen before. Thanks for any help. icon_cry.gif

Put them in the oven on 150 degrees. Or put them in front of a small fan. This is how i dry my fondant decos.

Once you get them good and dry again, put them in a sealed container with layers of parchment between. Keep them out of any sunny places that may make them sweat and you should be fine. It's been over 95 degrees here and raining for the past few days, so I just stuck some fondant figures and letters in a tupperware container in a cabinet in my kitchen and they are still fine.

If you can get your hands on some tylose, make up a batch of Nick Lodge's gumpaste and make some fresh stars. They'll dry in a day, and stay dry once they're dry icon_biggrin.gif

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago with flowers and humidity! I tried everything to fix them - oven on low etc but didn't work. If they are still a good shape you can try putting them into a large card cake box with one of those damp collection things in it - they are made for wardrobes etc! Obviously you don't want any contact with the gumpaste. I did this and even though the humidity got worse they dried in a couple of days. HTH

Place some limestone in a small cup and then place that in a sealed container with your pieces. The limestone absorbs the moisture - this technique is used for pulled sugar pieces. (Next time, add gumpaste to your fondant to make it dry harder)
