How Would You Attach Gum Paste Buttons On Buttercream?

I have a request for a three tiered buttercream cake covered in gum paste buttons. Should I run the other direction or can they be attached with out being too heavy or falling off? Wire maybe?
You can use a little dab of buttercream on the back of each button as you attach. This works great.
Tylose glue (1/4 t. tylose powder & 2 T. warm water. Mix together in a small glass bowl & put in frig for about 20 min. Stir & it should be ready)... OR Gumpaste glue (break up pieces of gumpaste & add them to a little warm water. Let dissolve. Stir. Ready to use) Works better than water, chcolate, or buttercream. Sticks immediately! I use tylose glue. I make it up in those small sample jelly jars. Also Walmart sells smalls sample sizes of mustard. I also use that to store my glue in. Oh, put in the frig after using.
I made a cake with buttons not too long ago. My buttons were fondant (and dried well), but there's really no difference. I just put a smidge of BC on the back of each button before placing. They stayed well.
