This is a fairly new hobby to me but i like it sooo much!
So far I have made 4 cakes and only one of them was an actual order.

The next cake I will be making will be my biggest challenge yet. It's for a two kids birthday party and should serve 20 people. The theme is "Tinkerbell," which I think is differently not easy to make. Tinkerbell herself is very small, skinny and needs details. The mom says she wants an extra nice cake since it's for both of her kids. So I will be doing quite a lot of decorating.

It's difficult to know how much to charge for the cake. Also because I'm not that experienced. What would you guys charge? Is $155 too much?

I would say $47 dollars is about right for the cake in the pic. Prices depend on size, content and detail. Tinkerbell is quite detailed but I wouldn't charge more than $60 for a cake to serve 20. I;m from England and would make this cake to around 8" size and probably charge around £32.

You do know it's against the law to duplicate Disney characters don't you? Your best bet would be to buy a Tinkerbell figure and use that instead. Then knock yourself out with the cake decor. The child can keep the figurine as a keepsake too.

Against the law? Sure. Likely to result in legal action? Hardly.

Your cautionary advice is appropriate, though.

Read up on the forum about licensed Disney characters. No joke. Take the advice about using a purchased topper. Good luck.

Ok, yes, I would charge $4 a slice with this theme due to the detailing..I did a tinkerbell out of fondant/gumpaste and it was a lot of work mostly on the facial part..hard..to be honest..OR if you free hand drew her,,that's hard too..so it's up to you! I would explain to customer of why it's high plus don't forget,,I charge $4 per slice when any kind of fondant/gumpaste is involved for cakes..it's the standard pricing for fondant period..Publix charges $4-$6 per slice for fondanted cakes! Something to think about..

IF you do cake all iced only and free hand draw her, then I would do $3.75 per slice otherwise, if you get the toy to place on top, then $3 per slice.

Thanks for your advice. Sadly i scared the woman because the price i suggested was too high. It is so hard to set a price on a cake. I've read everywhere that we often underprice our cakes.
