Hi all!

I need a "not-too-sweet-whipped-texture" frosting recipe. Any suggestions? Please and thank you! icon_rolleyes.gif

Have you tried Whimsical Bakehouse? This is their house buttercream, and it's delicious:

I use it on about half of all cakes I make. It's light & fluffy but stable and has a lightly buttery taste.

Have you ever made cooked frosting? I find that it has a great whipped texture and isn't too sweet. You just have to make sure your butter is at room temperature and really mix it with the sugar to keep the frosting from becoming gritty.

I have used this frosting on cupcakes before and it pipes beautifully once it has been in the fridge for about 15 minutes after preparing. I haven't used it on a cake yet, so I don't know how well it would hold up to additional decorating (fondant specifically).

I'm going to have to take another crack at the whimsical bakehouse icing again. I tried it once, and it was just a goopy mess. Tasted good, but had the consistency of runny sour cream. Has this happened to anyone else?

Don't use as much shortening. That happened to me several times until Leahs told me to cut back on the shortening.

There is one on here called Charlotte's whipped cream buttercream. I know you can find it in some post..it is the one Leah_s uses? I have made it and it was really good...not too sweet.
