I want to use a glass vase to seperate two tiers. I want to fill the glass vase with beads or seashells (I just saw a similar one here). How do I do that? will it be too heavy?Do you glue the top tier to the lip of the vase?
Any ideas would be helpful

I have used clear packaging tape, folded in a slim tube and placing on the rim of the vase, dowels under the vase. There might be a better way, this worked for me.

i have a pic of a cake separated by glass squares. they were really heavy so had to use styrofoam for half of the cake so we could push the glass into the cake until it hit the styrofoam. we turned them upside down so we could put flowers inside the glass. we used glucose syrup to stick the cake board to the glass so it wouldnt slide around. if you have any questions pm me. good luck

Sweettooth Were your vases filled with anything? What kind of dowels did you use? wood or plastic?
Also, pastrygirl, how did you use styrofoam for half the cake? did you use a peice of styrofoam as a cake layer?

the styrofoam was the bottom half of the tier, the top half was cake. that way when the glass square was pushed into the cake, it had something to rest on half way down. it was more sturdy that way.

made a cake using a vase filled with colorful stones. I simply cut a cake board to fit the bottom of the vase and used dowels as I would to support cake and set it up on site. hth
