Why don't they make a neutral colored one to attract boys? I wanted to get one for my little guy for Christmas so I stopped in to take a peek at ToyRUs. Love the little oven but it's marketed towards girls. Grrr I just think a neutal colored one would encourage all kids to cook.

I was thinking, you're a little too old to be using an easy bake oven. icon_lol.gif

Good point though. I mean, there are probably more male chefs out there than female!

Good point. How about contacting the creator/manufacturer to make a suggestion?

being the mommy to three daughters I love the pink, and had never even thought of that. But, you are so right. That is just wrong the company should hear your complaints!!!

Thanks ladies I'm definitely writing Hasbro. Ddog I saw the baby blue and white one but that's $40.00 (with bells & whistles) compared to the $20 easy bake. I just wanted the pinto not the cadillac.

Check out this one I found on ebay. It is looks like it is red. I would look carefully if you want to get this one, the shipping is really high on this auction but the price is good in my opinion.

My nephew has one called a Queazy (sp) Bake Oven. It's the same idea only the food looks gross. It's made to look gross though.

We have the Queasy Bake Oven, too. Most of the Quesy Bake Mixes taste horrendous - nobody would more than taste any of them.

I, honestly was pretty disappointed with the whole thing. They got it because I'd never had an Easy-Bake oven as a kid. It's way too hard to get things cooked properly. I'm looking to get rid of ours. It would have been a better investment to just get some kid-sized real cooking tools.

I just went ahead and bought my son a pink one. He doesn't care, he just likes to use it. The saleslady was really confused when I bought it. It was at a second hand store, so she tried to sell me the more expensive, Barbie model they had. When I said he doesn't like Barbie, and pointed to my son, she just got this confused look on her face. But you can't beat $5 for one!

My nephew got one for Christmas back when they first came and he loved it until one of his friends spent the night and asked him why did he have a girl oven. Since then it has been in the closet. Now he is 17 and cooking with a real oven. How the years fly by icon_cry.gif

I bought my daughter an easy bake oven and ended up throwing it away. They just dont make them like they did when we were kids. So Instead I have bought her a bunch of little pans that she can use. I let her do the work and then I put them in and take them out of the oven.

And this year she is into candy so for christmas i will be buy her some more candy molds and will put together a mini decorating kit for her because she is starting to get into decorating.

Cakeconfections, that's a great idea. I think I'll take that $20 and pick up some tartlet pans, mini cookie cutters, etc. He got a miniature rolling pin in a gift bag at a bday party and was absolutely thrilled. He held it up and screamed, "Mom look! I have one just like you, I can make cookies too!" Sangria thanks for the info. but I think I'll just pass on the Easy Bake, I saw that blue one but I don't think I want to spend that much for a toy. My husband did say we could try to spray paint/paint it black with flames or something to give it more flare. There you go, a million dollar idea, customized Easy Bakes. icon_smile.gif

Hello everyone,

just another idea or way around the easy bake. I used to sell tupperware about 4 years ago and we had a bunch of girls that would test and try items for alterantive usage. anyhow, we used to sell a soup mug that was microwavable and was found that you could use that to make cakes in the microwave as a subsitute for the easy bake oven. the trick is since the way microwaves conduct heat is trough water you just add a little more water. so if your baking it would be easy just to pass a little batter to your child.

they have tons of differnet shapes and sizes of microwave containers but this one seemed just the perfect size for an personal cake.

I kept a couple so that my DD can use them.

PS i know its seems obviuos and crazy but keep an eye on your children when using the microwave. our just caught on fire after being on for only 15 seconds. Im sure it was a faulty unit since it wasnt that old but wasnt expecting that ,,,,so beware
