I don't know if it will work but its an idea. use white as the base colour for the fondant and get a piece of fabric like linen that has a real woven texture - wash and rinse till the laundry powder is gone - then mix a batch of gel colour and vodka to a nice light denim blue, then brush the colour onto the fabric to cover the surface but try not to over saturate the fabric so when you go to print the fabric onto the fondant it leaves some white flecks. then repeat with a darker blue colour to add some depth. try this on scraps first please - i do not want to be responsible for you ruining your cake!!!

good luck

Buddy did some really nice looking denim on an episode of "Cake Boss". I don't' remember if they said exactly how he did it, but it might be worth trying to look up and see. Hope you get it figured out! Sounds like a fun cake!

just press a piece of denim on the fondant to get the imprint of the fabric. thats what he did on cake boss. i think he colored the fondant a demin color, then airbrushed on some extra detail to make it look real.

Oh that's right! I remember them cutting someone's pants off so he could use the pocket or something to press in the fondant. I think it was Danny's pants...it was hilarious!

This person found a textured cutting board. Just another idea.

Of course it doesn't have to be so realistic if it's for a baby shower and you can even use buttercream.
