I've been asked to do a small (75 serving) wedding cake for a very busy bride and groom. He's Lebanese and she's a traditional Southern gal. She had given me carte blanche to make whatever cake I chose as long as it's not like any other that a girl in town has had. She wants to be surprised. Her only request is for red roses. I'm thinking of a white chocolate fondant with black brocade stencil work and red sugar paste flowers. Then I wondered if black is acceptable in Lebanese tradition. I know times change ... a few years ago, no one would have dreamed of having black show up at a wedding but now it's the rage. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
