Do I have to use a firmer cake mix when making a watermelon shaped cake, or will the fondant hold the shape, or will it crack? I saw somewhere that someone used a base of cereal treats, is this necessary? I assumed I coud make it using a half round cake at each end and a couple rounds in the middle. Any input will be greatly appreciated!
a couple years ago Edibleart posted her watermelon cake along with good advice on how it was done. She used a pound cake. I've followed the directions and came out with a pretty good version but not as perfect as her's ...(gee, I do hope Edibleart is a "she", if not my apologies)
