Trying to make some bottle caps for a sugar bottle. Help please! Thought I could use pearl dust to paint it silver but not sure what to make it out of or how. Thanks

I'd cut a circle of fondant or gumpaste a little larger than the diameter of the top of the bottle and about as thick as the height of a regular bottlecap. Then I'd take a round skewer of something like that and press inward all around the edge to get the fluted effect. Do you think that would work? I think it would be way too much work to make it hollow and make it fit on top of the bottle. I'd just make the bottle a shade shorter and set the cap on top with some CMC glue or whatever you use to put things together.
