Hi well i have gathered all my ingredients to make the knox gel bubbles, the knox, the tweezers, the take everything and the balloons are blown up thanks to the help of a small hand pump for balloons. (those little balloons were so difficult).

I am not a supid person, and I can remember every number such as my checking account and credit card numbers phone numbers house numbers.. well you can see where I am going.. I think I am so tired or burned out I cannot figure how much water to add to the gel to dip the bubbles. Its a simple thing right?

It says one part knox and two parts water.. so this means tht I should measure the gel powder then double the amount for the water?

And how many small balloons should I be able to make completely out of one box of knox powder (4 envelopes in the box).
Any help would be most appreciated in this matter the cake is due next friday!

Yep. That's correct.

Don't know. It depends on what size you are blowing up the balloons, which we can't see and I'm not sure enough people have tried them to know exactly.

HI Thank you so much. I knew the measure and double thing. Same as when you cook rice. I said its just like when your too tired and stressed to think.

I think I am going to make them in the morning, I have been on the go all day and all that sounds good to do is grab a bowl of ice cream and watch a little tv and then go to bed! Yet, on the other hand. I would like the to have the next two days off no cake thoughts.

Will let you know how things come out... thanks

I thank you for writing, I am so sorry that yours didnt work out but glad that someone else has had the same problems I am having.. I have my laptopwith the directions and pictures right here by me as I am working on them..

I made about 10 with 3 coats before we went out to see the pirates movie. Came back, they still looked too thin. and the blobs of gel dripping off... i tried to get the balloon off the gel of one and forget that.. and I coated about 8 but they look horrible. I think I am going to try one more time and if they don't work then I am going to forget it and make fondant "bubbles".

I found a sugar blowing set, I would love to get isomalt and try that method but I don't have the time.. or the $$ right now to get all the equipment but it has to be less gooey than these.. they are sticking to everything that I am using..plastic plate, spoons, parchment paper and of course all my brushes and sissors.. if I am doing something wrong please help. The tooth picks didn't help at all the ballons just drooped off it and that is where all the gel gathered into a little pimple. they look pretty but I guess it takes lots of pratice.

again if anyone has any other ideas or ways to make it work please help..

I've tried these three times and I just can't get them to look nice. I have given up. I have other things to do with my time instead of pulling my hair out.

well my neighbor and her husband just came over to celebrate his birthday and my birthday (she baked the cake).. and we worked on the bubble problems. I showed her the pdf instuctions and she anounced that she had the special plastic slotted plate holders that were used to drain the balloons so that they don't have the little drain bumps in the wrong place.

I am going to relax a little while and then start over. I only have two envelopes of gel left and if they don't work the lady is going to have fondant bubbles on her cake.

Ok I will keep everyone up on how things go... wish me luck.

If anyone has any tips other than on the pdf instructions please let me know.

thanks..

hello,
well i got up this morning after working on these bubbles until the early morning hours. And guess what. I have oe small "bubble" that is hard. One of about 9. The others aparently don't have enough coating because they feel like they are going to colapse.
I was able to get the balloon out of the good bubble after some work and I only have one problem with it is the surface not smooth and nice. But it does give me hope for the next batch and the new plastic drying plates as in the instructions.
I will work on these today and hope that I can have enough that are usable on this cake. It is due for delivery on Friday Night. But this holiday day off is going to throw off my whole work week. It will be Friday before I know it.
**HELP HELP HELP** IF anyone can tell me can these be put in luster dust for shine after they are done instead of mixing with the gel? I think that they would look smoother .. maybe I will try it with one of my failures to find out what it looks like. I was given a different link to look at on a new post. I am going to look at that before I start work again. Have a picnic at 3pm so that should give me enough time to finish a few new bubbles. Wish me luck.

just getting ready to start making these again but thought I would ask how long do I wait between coats? Maybe I am doing them too close together.

Maybe that is one of the problems.?
