Hi, I have been reading about platinum paste and have been looking for a recipe for it. Does anyone have one?
I haven't seen a recipe as such, probably because it's one of those "well-kept secrets" out there in the world of commercial formulae, but here is the list of ingredients off a jar:
Sugar, Glucose syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oils, flavoring, color E171, vegetable gum
If you can get these things, try some experimentation.
I think you are talking about Diane Gruneberg's GP - her product is called Platinum Paste. Rolls out super thin.
Just a little bit of more FYI trivia:
The list of ingredients in my post above is from a jar of Platinum Paste gum paste product sold, I think, in the UK. The color E171 is Titanium Oxide. I found this info on this site:
"FOOD ADDITIVE CODE BREAKER - COLORING AGENTS"
http://nac.allergyforum.com/additives/colors100-181.htm
The titanium oxide is added because otherwise the platinum paste would be translucent instead of opage (not for sure of the spelling- means you can see through it.)
never heard of a recipe but I do know Jennifer dontz sells it.
here is her link:

I have tried it using what i got from Beth Parvu. Had it for a while. You can roll it very thin. marcela sanchez has beautiful paste also that you can roll very thin.
Hi martimoore. I'm wondering whether you found a recipe for Platinum Paste? If so, I'm wondering if you would like to share it please?
From the information provided by rowantree, I'm thinking it may just be gum paste or modelling paste with Crisco added. If the answer is out there I don't need to reinvent the wheel. Otherwise I'm thinking of experimenting with this and/or added glucose.
