Why are two different producers contacting you? Is it a mix up that they're crossing paths?

One had contacted me. My youngest son graduating, out of town guests, and other things prevented me from submitting by the time given. I thought I'd missed my opportunity altogether. Then, I received an invitation by another producer to submit videos. I think...not sure though...that the first sent the application info to the second. Whatever the reason, I consider myself lucky to have been given another chance.

Oh boy... after reading all of your posts... I'm freaking out. So I applied and I am at the video parts. The weird thing?? I have NEVER watched an episode of this show. I only know of the winner since he was on the commercial (and on an amateur cake competition - which he lost). I am so not sure of this now... I don't want them cropping and chopping what I say to turn me into a circus. I would hate to bring embarrassment to my family. And with creative editing I am SUCH a candidate for this. Thinking, Thinking, Thinking HARD!!!

everyone is a candidate for that...if one thinks before they speak it's less likely there'll be stuff to chop and crop, eh? You'll have the original footage should something need to be proved that that is not what was said or in the event something be edited to the point of losing its' original meaning.

I ain't worried about embarassing anyone...I do that on a regular basis...

I still say...go on...have fun...pretend you're 7...8...9...10...give it your all and enjoy yourself

so i'm nervous! like i said earlier, i sent in my application on friday night. i've been checking my email every hour waiting to hear something back, but no message yet :/

but then this afternoon, while on my way to an interview for a waitressing position, i got a phone call. i didn't check my phone til after the interview and when i listened to the voicemail it was a call from a lady named Julie from Next Great Baker! she said they really wanted to talk to me to ask me a few questions. i called back right away, but of course no one answered :/ i let a voicemail but it was already close to 5pm New York time, so i'm assuming she was gone for the day.

i'm so anxious to hear back! i have no clue why i didn't get the email about making a video but instead got a phone call! ahhhhhhh i'm really psyching myself out, i wish she'd just call back already! until tomorrow i guess...

It could be that because the application time is coming to a close those that interest them from the most recent applications received, they are calling for quicker response instead of an email you might not see for a few days, or could inadvertantly end up in spam folder.

After she speaks with you she may send the email with all the info.

Well, I decided to bite the bullet and apply for the show. It definitely has a wide variety of questions and very little space to answer them. I just hope mine is interesting enough to not be tossed in the trash!

Good luck to all who entered! Maybe we will see you there. icon_smile.gif

Alright Michele! Good luck to you as well!

I can't wait to cheer on whoever makes it.

I'm one of those oddball people that others want to shove out of the bleachers...I cheer for everyone!

(football games go something like this: "Get him!!!! (to the chaser(?)) Run! He's gonna get you! (to the one with the ball) See what I mean about embarassing??? I have company the first few minutes of the ball games. Then, everyone just up and leaves.)

I cheer for the other team all the time. I just think it's great when kids (or adults) make great plays. It is embarrassing when I'm at a Texas Rangers game and I cheer for the other team.

You are not alone, all4cake.

The space is as big as you need it if you submitted the online copy which is the preferred method. If you printed the pages to snail mail, they didn't provide the address for a reason but admit that if you mail it (to the 10th floor address in NY), you should also submit an electronic copy because they will likely lose a hard copy that isn't along with all the other applications.

So whether it gets lost or tossed, it would be to your advantage for them to have your e-copy to deal with in the same way as the others.

To cake-architect..

I also got that same phone call from Julie and I was in the shower when she called. Of course as soon as I heard the voicemail I called back to get only a voicemail as well but realized it was lynch time. After about 2 hours I finally was able to speak to her and it was about some of the questions on the application and so fort then she asked for the video audition..my advice...

KEEP CALLING...

And to whoever is waiting anxiously and constantly checking emails...be patient..I ran across an article about corina from season 1 and on there it said that she didn't get a call until 2 days prior to the producers wanting her to go to new York ...so I would again say be patient...

To all of you who are trying for a chance to win $50,000...

GOOD LUCK...God bless you all...

Unlimited, I did send the application in the manner they requested. I did keep my answers short, and surprisingly (sarcasm), I was able to include photos as requested. I am certainly not new to computers or e-documents.

I stand by what I said. There is little room for answering long questions. The one answer questions definitely had enough room.

Please don't make assumptions about what some has or has not done before making your comments.

Insulted,

Michele

I'm definitely not trying to get into the middle of this, but what I think Unlimited meant was that if you had filled out the application online you would have noticed that you could adjust the size of the boxes however large or small you wanted, thus allowing you to have enough room to answer in whatever length you wanted.

I know it took me a little while to realize this, at first I thought the boxes were set in that tiny size until I played around with it a little. I don't think any harm was meant. JMO :/

I got ahold of Julie!!! Yayyyy icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for the tips Nancv, I just saw them now but I really appreciate your advice icon_biggrin.gif

Anywho, she was super nice. She hosted a small interview asking me a few specific questions and she seemed to really like me. After we got done (it was about a 30 min convo total) she sent me the email and list of questions.

I'm really excited to have this opportunity! Good luck to all my fellow cake central friends who are going through this process with me! icon_biggrin.gif

cake_architect: You are correct. Thanks. I don't believe that you even needed to adjust the boxes, they automatically adjusted as you kept typing. You could also edit the questions if you cared to delete the portion that didn't apply.

I didn't assume anything, I simply stated two scenarios about submitting two different ways and what MY experience was including the suggestions made by the casting agent. IF you chose to submit this way or that, doesn't mean that I stated that you did this, that, or both. Chill.

I thought I was the only one waiting "paitently" (not a word I am usually familar with). I submitted my video over a month ago so I had gotten to the point I figured they decided not to pick me. My emails were a little different but basically the same. I ask if it should be public or private and they told me to make it public. I love "reality" shows and would be thrilled if they picked me. Either way I will be watching and cheering on any CC friends.

I got an invitation too, then a phone call to make and send in a video, which because of wedding season I look like bloody hell all the time. I keep hoping for a break long enough to dig for a tube of lipstick, and film myself slapping icing around. I am a little worried about the time it take stem to decide. My past experiences with Amazing Cakes they took so long to decide that it really hurt me time wise on the cakes I had due, and ended up costing me close to a 1000$ in money I had to give back to clients because I knew my cakes were not up to snuff because I was rushed and I felt horrible I had let them down. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE!

Initially, when I read, videos with low energy will not be considered or make the cut or something like that, I thought it meant low grade/grainy footage. As I was reading through all of it again, yesterday, for some reason, that same statement hit me as meaning those with less than interesting personality.

Geeeeeeeeeez...if that's the case, I am so screwed and better start working on next year's footage!

I also got a few emails asking me to apply. I politely declined after last season's shows. Definitely not getting into the back of anybody's delivery truck...

They said that the skill level will be much higher this season, though...

I can certainly see why it's so enticing...you'll get your five minutes, whether or not you win....

please give my regards to the "sisters" whoever IS chosen...

(wouldn't stand for being insulted by them either......btw)

The lady who called me (Julie) said they had a few more weeks of applications/videos until they closed casting (towards the end of July) and that we would find out everything after that. So I'm guessing we'll all find out at the same time! They're probably just keeping track of videos that stand out to them and after casting closes they'll review everything together and narrow it from there. That's how I'm understanding it after all lol!

I think we'll all be biting our nails until we find out lol! It really does stay in the back of your mind lol icon_rolleyes.gif Just keep in mind what someone posted earlier: Corina didn't get the call until two days before she was supposed to be in New York! So be prepared to stay on the edge of your seat lol
