I'm Inspected, Insured, Licensed, And Ready To Legally Bake!
Business By lorieleann Updated 29 Jun 2011 , 6:48am by scp1127
This morning I had my final health department inspection (passed with flying colors!) and went downtown to get my city business license. (who knew that i'd get some congrats from fellow CCer, bettycrockermommy, as she was the one who took my payment for the license!). So I'm ready to take orders and get that first dollar bill to put in a frame right next to my licenses/certificates (do people still do that ) You couldn't wipe the smile off my face if you tried!
And i want to thank all the CCers in this forum for providing their input, experiences and knowledge into mine and other posts about what it takes to be legit. I have to say that I almost wanted to throw in the towel when the AZ cottage food bill was passed, but i'm very glad that i kept to my plan and can operate at a professional, commercial level without restrictions. After going through the class and talking to the inspectors, I really see the need for a lot of the oversight and inspection. I think that it would be very difficult to do what I want to do in my county while operating as cottage.
So now it's on to putting the marketing machine into place, and for getting a feel for my new kitchen Its going to be a fun weekend baking!
Congrats!!!! I am in AZ as well and I am glad you kept going. Not sure where you are but I don't think there are tons of real commercial bakeries around so I am glad to see another out there!
Your excitement is seeping through the computer!! I'm so happy for you. Enjoy this new adventure in your life.
thanks all! I have time in the kitchen this weekend, so i'll get to bake then. Best thing was that the inspectors were so nice and friendly the city office workers were so nice, and everyone was so pleased to be doing their work. It could have been so much worse, but as far as painting gov. bureaucrats with the same brush, these ladies stood far apart.
blueviolet- i'm in Pima county. Tucson has no shortage of excellent bakeries and cakeries, i'm just hoping that if i keep my head down, work on my craft and consistently turn out an exceptional product that i'll find my niche in our market. next up is finishing my website and getting set up with an accountant.
first of all congratulations!!! I just went and looked at all of your photos, and they are fantastic! Good luck in your first year!
Congratulations! I have my rough-in-plumbing inspection in the morning. When we pass the concrete will be poured before the weekend.
That's great to hear. Stick with it. I pray I'm in your smilling position very soon. Good luck and many blessing !
I went to your site to look around so that I could congratulate you and my website was on your sidebar... caught me off guard.
Anyway, good luck and congratulations. I am still new myself. This business is just a natural high because everyone loves cake!
Thanks for the congrats everyone! Things are still going well, though i'm still getting the marketing end of things put into place. My former career was in PR and i know enough to know that i'm out of the loop in the market i want to be in and that i need the right person/event to do a proper launch. So hopefully I'll be getting a plan in place next week after meeting with an ex-collegue.

Now i'm intrigued! was this my blog or by following the link to my Facebook page and the 'likes' sidebar?. I don't have a blog favorites list widget in there, so maybe was it an ad? (you can PM me if you like and want to keep undercover )
It was on the sidebar that is under Ad Choices. I did follow your blog under my twitter account. By the way, my web designer added the RSS feed button that makes it easy to follow favorite blogs. I did not see one for you. I think I know how it got there. PM me and I'll let you know because it would be good for you too.
