I am making Fondant hydrangea flowers for a wedding cake in a few weeks.I bought the cutter and press mold. Are Hydrangeas supposed to be flat or can they be slightly pinched upright together..Laying flat they look ugly..

Any Thoughts!!

A slight pinch, or curve from drying upside down makes them look more natural when put in a bunch.

I fold each petal in half lengthwise to give them more shape and pinch them so they are slightly cupped around the center.

I mix them- some I hang upside down so they look like they're in early stages of bloom. For the open look- I thin the petal edges and slightly cup them with a ball tool.

I agree, I just learned that too when I made my hydrangeas recently. Look at Wild Flowers blog. She makes gorgeous hydrangeas and other flowers.
