I've exhausted JoAnn's, Michael's, AC Moore and Hobby Lobby. I frequently buy online and I would really like to find a local place or two. I get excited actually going to the store and seeing all that pretty cake merchandise! Does anyone know where I can go? I know there is a twin bakery supply co and somewhere on Williams St (no idea what the name is?) Has anyone been to these places? What kind of stuff do they have? Just supplies or food too? Like sugar and flour? Or does anyone have suggestions for new places? I'm running low on some my basics (boxes, boards, meringue powder, some of my americolors, piping gel...) and I'd like some new stuff to play with (flower cutters, impression mats) and whatever else I can get my hands on! Any info would be appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!

Hi Sarah have you considered making a day trip by driving over to the GTA across the border? There is Mcalls in Mississauga and Creative Cutters in Richmond Hill that are a candy store for a cake decorator...you can also check out Golda's Kitchen in Mississauga. All 3 would be tight in one day. Check their websites, if you do decide to head out. Remember not to buy edible stuff on your return they will bother you at customs.

It is on Williams and Bailey close to the post office. This is where I go to get all of my boxes, boards, etc.... they also have a ton of americolors and within the past year they got impression mats and every time I go in they have a new product. They sell bettercreme, sugar, flour, high ratio shortening, cookie cutters, cake pans, bakery supplies, decorating kits, cupcake picks, buttercream, fondant, fillings, etc... definitely go check them out. There prices are comparable with most of the places online (espicially if you figure in the shipping and handling)

I agree! This is one of the best local places. You can get bettercreme right from the Rich's outlet store on Niagara Street though. They have all their fruit fillings too. And the bettercreme in pre-mixed and bagged or in the quarts to measure and mix yourself. Then, if you go out to Rochester, there is a place called Niblack's that carries every possible sugar and spice and flour you could possibly ever want. They are not a "cake" store specifically, but they carry maybe 10 different kinds of honey, every flour you could ever want or knew existed, 6x sugar, coloring, flavoring, dried fruits of every variety, all kinds of stuff! Plus beans, rices, couscous, quinoa.....LOVE THAT PLACE!
