Dowels - such a simple thing, yet I have a question as I did have a cake failure recently. Don't think I used enough or they were too thin.

I will be putting on tops of a 4" sheet cake ovals in 16", 13", 10" and 7". Though the sheet cake will be layered the stacked ovals will not do the the weight that my hubby and I can carry (lol).

How many dowels would you use on the 16" oval and what size diameter dowel would you use? I have wooden dowels that are 3/16", thinking they may be too thin.

Just wanted to say I did do a search, but couldn't seem to find the answer I needed. Thanks

Any and all help would be appreciated. thank in advance

This video has really helped me with stacking cakes! It also has the information on where to purchase the dowels she uses. I highly recommend these dowels!
