Mailing cookies, MMF and Royal Icing questions..

Hey there!

I have never mailed cookies before but I have had a friend travel to Houston with some...Some were MMF covered...some were RI covered...there was some breakage but all in all, they were fine...however they were babysat by my friend!!

I wanted to mail some cookies out (I use NFSC recipe) for my Uncle who is turning 80...I'm afraid the MMF will melt or get tacky? And the Royal icing break?

Any suggestions on mailing...packaging...can i decorate with MMF or would you not recommend that?

you know...give my the skinny on mailing the goods!!!

i have mailed off cookies in the past and have not had a problem i bought a cookie box and cut wax paper squares and put it between them

I just started shipping cookies a few weeks ago. I shipped 4 dozen to NY from MN, and they all made it safely and intact! BTW, I always include 1-2 extra cookies. If it's a more intricate design/bigger cookie I include one extra. If it's a basic design I include 2 extra.

I put each cookie in an individual bag tied with a ribbon. I take a small box and put bubble wrap on the bottom, and then I alternate layers: cookies, bubble wrap, cookies...

I tape that box shut. Depending on the number of cookies I usually need one more box and do the same thing.

Then I take a bigger box, crumple up newspaper and cover the bottom. Put the smaller boxes with the cookies in them, place crumpled paper between the cookie boxes and the big box. Then I put crumpled up newspaper on top before I close and take the box.

The key is not to give the cookies room to move/slide around.
