Three wedding cakes for me.
2, 3 tiers
1, 4 tier and 1 groom's cake.

Cakes all done. Now making ribbons and will start making flowers in a few minutes.

Making flowers at the last minute? Oh yes! I'm making them out of wafer paper. Big blossoms that weigh next to nothing. I cut them with the Cricut and shape them in a bowl.

Good Evening to you all. Well Im not working on a cake but I am going to begin to TRY to use my cricut with fondant.

I have had it for over a year and used it once . I cut the #3 on my Baseball cap cake that I made (took me over an hour for that one number ja ja ja..............) and never again used it. so tonight I got nothing to do and i am gonna give it another go. I purchased SCA(sure cuts alot) and have yet to use it, I kind of got familiar with it but haven't really given it a go.

After 6 months of not being allowed to use my left hand due to a severe wrist injury, I'm so happy to be caking again! This weekend, I'm making a baby shower cake for a wonderful friend. I'm making a rectangular basket filled with baby supplies. The theme of the shower is baby books, so I replicated a copy of the book I'm giving with her gift. I really hope it turns out looking the way it does in my head! Happy caking to all of you!

I hate quilting on bc. Anyway, make sure it's well crusted before you use the impression mat. You DO have an impression mat, right? Or put it in the freezer about 15 minutes then use the impression mat.

Family Reunion in 2 weeks-constructing families homeplace completely with cake & rkt. Did gumpaste/fondant accents tonight and now Im brain-storming how on earth Im doing the fondant. It needs to be ONE piece across the 3 tiers so details (doors, windows, etc) can be added...driving me nuts but still sketching. Thinking about all of you having a late night..I hear a pillow calling my name : icon_cool.gif

Oh sorry kathie. The diamond cutter will work fine. Dip it in hot water then shake or blot it dry before each impression.

Anyone have any tips on chantilly lace? ( I know it has another name, I just can't think of it right now!!!!! =) )

You mean cornelli? Tiny tip, make squiggles with no touching and no overlaps. You should not be able to ever find a beginning or end point.

Personally, I prefer sotas. Lots of overlaps.

After being pretty much sidelined to the couch since Sunday night with Strep throat (blech), I'm fully back on my feet and healthy.

My parents asked me to make a cake for one of their friends this weekend. Just finished icing it. Gonna decorate it after work tomorrow and deliver it tomorrow evening. They left decoration wide open (too wide open IMO, I don't know this lady well enough), so I'm spending time tossing around last minute design ideas and playing with colors.

Smores cupcakes? Details please.

Whew! I'm working sooooo hard on these flowers. heh, heh, Actually I'm cleaning the kitchen while the Cricut cuts the wafer paper. Seriously you guys have to try this. Whenever a bride comes in with an organza fabric flower on her dress, I say Oh yes I'll make that out of edible paper. Edible paper, they say . . . cool. then I'm adding a sugar gem and some perals to the center. Assemble the thing with the tiniest bit of piping gel. and I mean the tiniest bit.

I'm working on a Buzz Lightyear cake for my son's 5th birthday party tomorrow. I have used gum paste before but I have never tried to paint it with gel colors. Can anyone tell me if I can cut out my letters and then paint them with the color instead of coloring the paste first? I don't need much of each color and I don't have much gum paste left.

Thanks!

I'm actually pretty busy...for once...I have two party cakes (one is for Sunday) and a Special Agent Oso birthday cake. One party cake is done (I was left with all decorating license except that they wanted all chocolate) and it came out pretty cool. I got inspiration from a 1974 Wilton book...lots of fun buttercream work in there. I'm happy with it and impressed with my piping skills (if I do say so myself)! The Oso cake is also done but not assembled...probably will deliver and assemble on site since there are lots of 3d elements. The other cake is baked but I'm out of icing, an no butter to make more) but it's a simple enough cake that I'm not stressed about getting it done tomorrow. I'm off to clean up now...my least favorite part!

I am working on one of the last "freebie" shower cakes for Sunday. My daughter is sponsoring a bake sale for "RESTORING SWEET HOME ALABAMA" She has been baking since Tuesday night. She has 9 9inch cakes, 3 dozen cookies, 2 dozen cupcakes, 1 dozen muffins, 2 dozen brownies and trail mix! I have one sad looking kitchen.
I am going to fill up the dishwasher with as much as I can and press the button. Then I am going to sit here for a few minutes and relax.
