I bought the cricut cake machine a few months ago but haven't had any luck with it yet. Every time I try to cut something with it, the needle just drags the fondant or gum paste around. I've tried to roll it thin, switched speeds, pressures.... not sure what to do next. Anyone have this and actually have luck with it? I have only been able to cut one thing out and it was a big crown- anything else that's more intricate or small, it wont work! Help please. Thanks, Katie
this also happened to me!!! I was going crazy not knowing what to do! a friend of mine recomended to use only gum paste or the cricut sheets, and not to use fondant.Since I had no time that day to go buy any of those, I try letting the fondant fry a little and when it was a little hard, I started cutting. This helped a lot, not a 100 % but I was able to cut some figures. Is a very sad situation , some days I feel like returning the machine cause is not as easyand helpful as they say.

Oh thanks. I read a review on amazon that said to try not using crisco on the sheet and just a little water and rolling the gum paste out pretty thin so you can almost see thru it and then putting it in the freezer for a few mins to harden.... then try to cut it. But that didn't really work either! I bought it online and some days I want to return it too- they make it look so easy in the videos online! So frustrating
I have the Cricut Cake Mini and I love it! Before using fondant, I let it sit to dry for a while, and I freeze my gum paste on the sheet for about half an hour before cutting and it works great. Since I do this and it takes so long between cutting each sheet, I just bought some extra mats to save myself some time.
Can you use homemade fondant and gumpaste with the machine? I'm thinking about getting one.
I use 50/50 of wiltons fondant and gumpaste. I roll it super thin and let it sit for about 20 minutes. After I run it through the machine I pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Works like a charm!
Hi Girls!!! I have the cricut too.... and almost return but I take a demo in a cake show and after that I LOVE IT
1. put crisco in ur mat.... very greese
2. roll ur gum paste thin.... if u like use 50/50 add tylose
3.dry ur gumpaste for 40 minutes to a 1 hour. feel like a paper in the top.dry
4.set ur machine in speed/presure in high
5. cut and try save in a flat board with crisco. and wrap with plastic.
put in the frezzer and take out when u need. that preven dry all.
more tips.... try make in advance... 2-3 days or more. but keep in the frizzer.
if u like use black fondant use a lot tylose. but the most important is dry for 40-to 60 minutes.

Ok, I went over and try every thing.... and nothig works...... There is not possible way I can make this thing work. I can only cut small circles, that I have to at the end , fix with my hands to make them totally round. So I am seriuosly thinking in returning it. just FYI girls
Check out Linda McClures youtube videos and follow her instructions to the "T" and you will have success.

And you nfollowed all of Linda's instructions (letting it dry overnight in a ziplock bag)?
Ok, reading everyone's advice about letting the fondant dry a bit before cutting, but then dont the pieces crack when you put them on the cake because they have dried out? Especially if you want to curve something on the side of a round cake?
