Duff's Airbrush Machine - Page 4

You guys have me totally STOKED about my airbrush machine. I just ordered mine from GMA yesterday. They advertised a special on their webpage and I got it for $50. I have a carpenters cake to do this weekend. I wish I had it already to do the wood grain.... It's ok.... I'll paint it like I've done in the past.

Crazboutcakes: It's true.... The Vodka is NOT an issue at all..... I buy the smallest and cheapest bottle from the liquor store and it lasts me for months. I use it on my own kids cakes - never a problem.... HAPPY CAKING!!!

I also received the Duff's airbrush at Christmas last year and I love it! I have had no problems with it and have done several cakes with it. I thought is was pricey and at the time, they would not allow you to use coupons on Duff's stuff. I am a hobby baker for friends and family and would purchase this again.

But I also have had some issues with some of the gel colors. I will try the vodka to thin it out and see how that works.

I've had mine for almost 2 yrs now and love it. I'm taking an airbrushing class soon and hoping I will love it even more after that! I got mine with a 60% coupon and a gift card couldn't have spent it any better!

I just bought this machine a couple weeks ago and I have used it 2-3 times. I used a Joanns 50% coupon at Michaels! I was nervous about buying it because of the reviews that I have read. But, I must say that I love it! It was a little confusing on how to clean the airbrush so I winged it! Hasn't broken yet! lol The colors you buy are expensive ($5 a piece), so if anyone knows a brand and where I could buy it cheaper that would be awesome!

Has anyone used this unit when applying a alcohol/lusterdust solution to gumpaste decorations?  Would clogging or uneven spraying be an issue?  I am tempted to purchase this for occasional use, but I need even, consistent applications...  no splotchies accepted!  8^)

I recieved Duff's Airbrush machine for christmas and just used it for the first time a few days ago. I didnt have any problems with it and my cake looked really great after so i guess for those who arent using it constantly or arent crazy cakers it could be a good starting airbrush kit. I liked it, but then again I'm a newbie so I'm no expert. :] and i think you can control the air pressure on it but im not 100% sure on that.
