I just did, and here is what it says:

"Scores are based on the cumulative total of the votes received NOT the average rating."

So, evidently if any of us are voting according to the star rating thinking it has some bearing on the total votes, it does not! Each cake gets ONE vote no matter how you rate it. Why not just a box to check if you want to vote on that cake! JMHO Janice

Maybe they worded that wrong and meant cumulative total of the ratings. Otherwise, I also don't understand what the stars are for.

I used to think the same thing.. so I asked about it here..

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-3999.html

Each star is a vote... so if you check 5 stars it is 5 votes... if you check 1 star it is one vote.

She just doesn't use the average ratings... she uses actual votes. HTH! icon_smile.gif

Okay, scoobam, thanks for your response and the link. I stand corrected!

I think if this is the way it works:
"For example, if you give an entry "5 Stars - The best"
You are essientially giving that entry 5 points."...

that makes sense, and thats what she should say in the rules, because right now the rules don't say that the stars are each a vote. Once again, JMHO! Janice

Yeah, I agree. Maybe she will see this and change the wording... as you can see by that link... I thought the same thing as you...I thought I was the only one who took the wording that way... but now it makes me wonder if people are voting the way we think then it may change results.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for bringing this up, I have made a minor update to the wording in the contest rules.

Now it says:
Scores are based on the cumulative total of the points received NOT the
average rating.
This means that if you give a cake 5 stars, you are essentially giving that cake 5 points.

I hope that clears it up a bit for everyone.

Hi Jackie, thanks for clearing up the "Stars" as votes! The way you have the rules worded now should eliminate any confusion about the voting!

Leaving the names off the photos in the contest gallery seems reasonable and should make the contests more interesting and possibly more fair!

Also, I'm sure our friends "across the pond" very much appreciate the fact that they can now enter too! Janice

Thanks again! thumbs_up.gif

ps: I am very excited to have placed 4th in the Back to School Contest! icon_biggrin.gif
