Tips On Tackling A 7Hour Drive With Cake
Decorating By angelogoo Updated 16 May 2011 , 1:32pm by aprilismaius
Hello all,
I have agreed to make my friends wedding cake and drive it 7hours to the wedding. I will be travelling from Scotland to England (Sheffield) and the temperature should be between 12 and 17deg C.
Do i transport it in the boot or inside the car? Do i need to worry about the heat/sun?
Any tips on how i can avoid disastrous situations apart from driving really carefully?. The cake is not stacked.
Many thanks
http://www.bakerycrafts.com carries boxes to transport a cake.

Thanks, its not stacked so I am not really bothered about it falling about. Just the fact that I will be travelling 7hours with it in the car.
I would put up something over the windows, like a screen if you have one. Or use a reflector. If it doesn't impare driving...that way, you don't have the sun hitting the cake or the box at all. No matter if its not that warm out. Windows can hold in the heat.
HTH!
i think there are as many ways to do this as there are members on this board. i would put it in a cardboard box, then into another larger cardboard box, with dry ice all around it. i would use firm foam underneath to cushion it against any bumps. good luck!
