Can I bake in a ceramic coffee mug

I am not a very skilled cake carver but needed to make a cake in the form of a coffee cup. So I was thinking of just baking the cake in a ceramic mug. The mug is about the size of a standard paper coffee cup, like you get at Starbucks.
Will the cake bake evenly? Do I need to adjust te temp?
THANKS!

I have baked in a coffee cup but I actually bought white oven safe coffee cups from bedbathbeyond. They say oven safe on the bottom. I sprayed cooking spray instead of crisco but cover the surface well. I started the timer at cupcake time and then kept checking for doneness. Btw I use (pieces of) chocolate covered pretzels as handles. Good luck!

Sure, as long as it is heat safe. One thing you may want to watch for is the top may brown long before the center is baked. I found that two things help with this: 1) use a flower nail and 2) place aluminum foil over the mug (shiny side down) once you notice that the top is brown but the middle is still not done. Good luck!

You could also bake a cake and use round cutters to cut out circles in the sizes you need and them stack them. No carving necessary! If it's a tapered cup, cut a few circles smaller than the rest and then the carving will be minimal- just enough to make the transition from the smaller circles to the larger ones.

thanks for the tips!
I learned to bake the 'cup' cakes longer than I did and not to fill the cups up so much!!
I had thought about uisng differnt size circles but I could only find a large size and a small size circle in my collection.
