I found a new spot in my house (thanks to a photographer friend of mine) to take pics. I use this spot EVERY day, but just didn't think of it as a great spot for cake pics. I just posted a pic I took of a new cake in my gallery and a picture of the photo booth I used...

Basically it's just two pieces of thick foam core laid over my sink and one propped up on the upper cabinet. The lighting from the window, the overhead light from the sink and the general lighting from my kitchen gave me an amazing spot for taking pics. Yes, I had to get up on my counter a bit, and clear off a bit of a mess, but I was really pleased with the lighting. I didn't use a flash and this pic is basically right out of the camera...I just sharpened it a bit. I have a basic Rebel XT (6 years old) 8 megapixels.
