I love salted caramels and thought it would be fun to try that flavor in a cake ball/pop with dark chocolate and sprinkled with coarse sea salt.

Has anyone done this with success? If so, did you use a box mix/frosting or go the scratch route? I'm not sure whether to scour the Internet for a caramel cake recipe or tweak a box mix (not sure about that).

Advice and suggestions welcome!
Thanks,
Melissa

I don't have any help. I just wanted to say that they sound yummy and I hope you will post any info you come across or successes you have in trying them.

I've done scratch caramel cake with caramel SMBC, dipped in a mix of semisweet/dark chocolate, then sprinkled with a tiny bit of fleur de sel. Try Rose Levy Beranbaum's karmel cake. It's a simple recipe, but yummy. HTH!
