I am sitting here in tears. After three hours I can't seem to get the hang of curling petals flowers. I use the Wilton ball tool and a foam square. Should I invest in a metal ball tool?

Can someone direct to a website or tutorial with directions? I cannot pay for classes am trying to learn from your website and online tutorials.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love doing this but my flowers look two dimensional and I am too embarressed to take my cakes to church. icon_sad.gif

If the Wilton ball tool has a raised seam across it, you need to file it/sand it down.

If the foam pad is a soft foam pad (the pink one), you really need a firmer pad. Celpads (yellow) are the best, but a foam kneeling pad for the garden works very well, too. You can also try using the thin white foam on top of the counter--but NOT on the pink foam--and it should work OK, but the firmer pads really are better.

Hold the ball tool like a pencil with the head half on the petal & half on the pad. "Erase" along the petal edge, but don't press too hard. You should get a nice, gentle wave.
