hi all,
hope someone can help, i have ran out of coco powder, is it ok to use melted chocolate instead? if so what is the equivalent?
many thanks
I know you can put melted chocolate in icing but not sure about cake mix
Try adding Chocolate Jello Pudding that I always do & it turns out perfect
Good luck
Cocoa powder is often used to replace some flour in recipes so if you're using melted chocolate, or even chocolate syrup, replace the missing cocoa powder with some extra flour. Good luck!
thanks all, tried melting choc in mix, its ok but not as good as cocoa powder, so will have to make sure i keep stock up, thanks again
I bake a scratch cake with both cocoa powder and choc ganache in the dough, that is soooo good, but you need to give it 2 days to rest and combine flavour. It gets moister by the day and is great for carving starting from day 2, before then it is too soft and dry, funnily enough.
I know, if I tell some people that they think :" ikk old cake", but old world recipes are not bad at all. People used to bake cakes that kept a week without preservatives and chemicals, I use homemade extracts, my cakes are ALL natural and sell well. Talk to a German though, and cake is a must in many households, most remember the cake that kept a week, when they were young and wonder, why they don't taste the same anymore. Yes, even in Germany, the mixes have taken over with the young crowd
