Here's one of my very few bc cakes. Well it's iced in bc only...but that's the hard part icon_biggrin.gif Fondant decorations. I usually only cover in fondant. Agreed, there's lots more room for error!

This is a link to a buttercream cake I did for August of last year - outdoor wedding and reception in lower Michigan. It's possible to do, but care has to be taken.

I delivered this cake on Labor Day weekend last year...my van broke down so I had to borrow my brother's car...which barely fit the cake (my mom complained the entire way because she was holding it it the back and took some meds on the way home). And my brother's car has dark tints so I had to be careful of cops...and I couldn't see driving back at night!

Thank God traffic was light both ways.

All my cakes are buttercream only...with fondant and gumpaste decor. My most recent was a copy of a fondant cake from a CC'er on this site...only hers was fondant and I used buttercream and hand painted the leopard spots on that. It was fun.

Then plug me back in.  See if that works!
