I made a little man out of fondant and he is wearing a black suit. There were some cracks on his sleeves, so I decided to paint his black suit with black to hide the cracks. My little man now looks like he is wearing a very dark, metallic green leisure suit. I have no idea what happened - I've done it before (painted). I used Country Kitchen's black gel. Any suggestions why it would have done that and if I can fix it and if I should bother fixing it or leave it for fear of making it worse. I'm afraid of busting him completely if I move him around much more. What do you think?
Thanks!

Hi, I'm not sure in your case but I have had trouble with wilton's colors not turning our right at times; such as black turning green when trying to make gray. The problem, I have found is not having any milk in my icing. I have found this with certain colors. If I mix a little black trying to make gray without milk it will turn green. To mak lilac there must be milk or it will turn blue. I hope this will help you. icon_smile.gif

I had that problem when I airbrushed. My black cakes turned green. Then I read somewhere to add a DROP of violet to my barrel of black. That one little drop of violet takes out the potential for black turning green. It works. I do it all the time now. Have not tried it with my black gel, only airbrush color. I would think it would work.

Because black is not really considered a color they use many bases such as purple and green to get the color.Sometimes when I have a bottle of Americolor going not bad but I have had for a while you can see the purple base coming out and it colors like a purply grey not jet black...I just toss it and buy a new one..You can try and counter-act it with the purple like someone suggested...
