My husband is appalled at the poor quality of work...I'm a self taught home based baker and I wouldn't send my cakes out like that.

Then again, I field another stupid question a lot because I have identical twins. I've been known to answer the "Are they twins?" question with, "No, triplets... OMG, I LOST one?!" Quite effective.

That's a good one! I don't like cake boss bc everything seems to be made out of RKT but no one asks me about it bc I don't live in an English speaking country (France) so they've never seen it anyway - lucky for me!
I can't handle the "the crowd went wild when we brought out the cake" comments, he's kinda HIGH on him self. I am fairly new at decorating cakes and I'm not very impressed with the quality of their fondant cakes, I would be embarrassed to deliver some of those cakes. Though, I did see a show that did have one nice traditional wedding cake.
It's the, "It was Awesome!" that gets to me. Sometimes I watch just to see how many times he'll say that in one episode. DRIVES ME CRAZY!

LOL, we were watching his show "kitchen boss" (how many shows do you need?), and my daughter commented, "why does he keep saying 'beautiful'?" When a 5 year old can pick that up, there is something wrong!
I get asked if I watch Cake Boss all the freakin time. And I know exactly what you mean about it driving you nuts! I've honestly watched maybe 3 episodes. I'm bored with cake shows. I used to watch a lot of them back before I made cakes all day, every day, but now when I want to relax and watch some TV, I want to take a break from what I do all day, so I never watch any of the 987 shows they have nowadays based on cake.
LOL my favourite phrase he says ALL the time is "that's how we do it baby Hoboken style" ... zzzzz I like his shows when they first started. I've been to the store and met some of them but now it seems more about his life and family than the making of cakes 
I do watch pretty much all the cake shows, but to be asked the same friggin' question over and over is annoying. Just because I make cakes doesn't mean cake boss is my idol. I just watch the shows to see how things are made, not to watch the drama like other reality shows. I'm also getting annoyed with "How much are your cakes?". Can you tell I'm totally not a people person? LOL!

sidetracking a bit, I do the same thing on "House Hunters". Everytime the woman walks into a room, does she say the same phrase at every house .... "Oh this is nice! Oh this is nice Oh this is nice!" Ya gotta love the predictability of "unscripted" shows! LOL!
YES!!! Every single time I tell someone I make cakes the next word out of their mouth is...."Do you watch cake boos" URGH!!! I used to really enjoy the show in the beginning, but now its just a bunch of screaming, squawking and sheet cakes with rice crispy decorations...its a waste of my time to watch.

When my kid is sleeping/gone I have TLC on. Cake shows, cupcakes, real estate, weddings, babies...OH GOD NOW YOU KNOW!

What I think is funny is at least 1/week I get an order for a cake similar to a cake boss cake. People see the cakes and decide they want it. At least half the time they don't reply to my pricing e-mail when they get their quote. Tehe.
I really wish he'd let us know the price of his work - it would help us in the biz out a load!
The one show I detest... and I detest it with all my heart.. is DC Cupcakes. I'm so happy they can attach cupcakes to some stupid form --that takes real talent--but seriously....the fake drama makes me sick! And that guy with all the hair...and he's back there with the food and not pulling it back! Yick! And a grown woman being called 'Mommy'...by EVERYONE?
How about showing people PAYING for their outlandish last minute requests? How about saying 'no' when you think someone has gone too far? How about showing some of your real screw-ups? Or someone pissed off about your pricing! Now that's a show that would deal with reality!
I watched Cake Boss for about 2 minutes until Buddy started driving me crazy. His ego is just a little too much - I do like some of his cakes though. My DH does a great impression ("How am I going to make a giant peanut butter sandwich cake?! And then I got it - I'll use real peanut butter!") that I find more entertaining than the show itself. 
I also always get asked if I watch the cake shows. I say "Sometimes. Do you watch "An Idiot Abroad"?

LOL...and don't you just love how they all NEED two sinks? Really? You NEED two sinks??? You're a couple of spoiled brats!
Oh, and no offense to those with granite counter tops but all I can think is that in 10 years they'll be relegated to avacado appliance status , soo early 2000s.

I've noticed that too. The blonde sister gets me she's so fake & OTT & now she's got those awful hair extensions.
That said give me Buddy over Duff any day. How that guy ever got where he did I'll never know. They're not even cakes
