our pastor's wife is having a birthday this week so we are having a brunch in sunday school on sunday (9:30 am) i'd like to do a cake but was wondering if anyone has a fabulous recipe for something that is more breakfast friendly. and what kind of icing would be good on it??

thank you for your help icon_biggrin.gif

why don't you try angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream. Or for that matter stack a big pile of crepes with the strawberries and real whipped cream. Very light and the fruit makes it nutritional ha ha!

I agree the angel food cake with fruit.... or some sort of fruity cake like apple cake or applesauce cake or banana cake....maybe a blueberry muffin-ish cake...?

Why not make a cake that looks like a giant cinnamon roll. A caramel spice cake...even a carrot cake...drizzled with a cream cheese glaze?
Could be fun!

Make a cinnamon cake following the wasc recipe and using cinnamon creamer for the liquid (1/2 creamer:1/2 water) and cinnamon flavored buttercream. Yummy good and one of my favorites!

a few weeks ago, I made lemon WASC and folded in fresh blueberries and baked in a bundt pan and just dusted with powdered sugar after it cooled. It was amazing! everyone at work loved it, our sole male therapist at the office was eating a slice between each session and at the end of the day he sheepishly admitted to eating at least half of the cake throughout the day icon_lol.gif

Banana cake with caramel buttercream. Coconut pound cake with coconut glaze and sprinkled with shredded coconut. Coffee crumb cake. Hope that helps!

have you ever been to Bakerella's site? well she has a recipe for pancake muffins, maybe you could make it in a cake pan instead of cup cake pan and use a maple buttercream? http://www.bakerella.com/mini-maple-pancake-muffins/

you could do a pancake muffin cake above with a maple buttercream and even throw bacon bits in it =) sounds different but i bet it would be wonderful, like a frenchtoast and bacon! =)
