Hi Guys,

Im fairly new to decorating cookies... Have done plenty of cakes but really enjoy cookies!!

I am doing some Thomas the tank cookies for a friends sons bday and Im struggling a little... Ill explain what Im doing then you can tell me if there is an easier way

Ok so I dont have a Kokykake projector cause they are so bloody expensive in Australia and Im no good at free hand so I have been tracing a picture with RI on waxed paper underneath the pic I want... Then I flood it but this is where the prob is... Im finding that when I flood it goes all ove half of the piping details I have already done... So in other words Im losing Thomas's mouth and eyebrows... and have to re-pipe the whole pic again icon_mad.gif

Can anyone give me an idea on what to do... Im tracing with wilton #2 tip and flooding with a #2 tip as well

Cookie decorating isnt very popular over here so I have no idea who to ask!!!

Any help is appriciated!!! icon_smile.gif

What if you outlined and then flooded the body of the train and then added the details on top of the dried icing?

Also, you may want to try doing your outlining in a tip 3 or even a 4. flood with your tip 2. And then pipe the accents on afterwards.

Hi! I agree, that you might want to flood the large color areas first and apply details free-hand on top of that. Also, I find that as much as I want really detailed and intricate, "true life" representations, I find that I am much more successful if I carefully edit the details that I include. The proper number of wheels, ladder, the number, and the expression on Thomas' face would be the things I worry most about...the cookies will still seem very "Thomas", even without all of the exact details. Honestly, any blue train with a face will scream Thomas, even if you miss some of the other "big" details! Good luck icon_smile.gif
