I have the Cricut Cake mini and i am having a problem with it. I updated the firmware so i could use the Sure Cuts A Lot Program and evey time now when i turn it on the LCD Screen is messed up. Is there a way I can fix it or do i need to call provo craft?
Do a search of posts within the last week and you'll see that updating is the problem. You'll need to restore your SCAL to before the update. You can no longer update it and have it still work with the cricut.

Dear Kyarger,
I Have the same problem... Have you found a way to resolve the problem? I am desperate to restore my screen function, as my machine is only 5 days old.....
Thanx in advance!
Did anyone find a solution to this problem? Mine is doing the same thing and I tried resetting the unit and I think it made things worse....
Guess I am going to have to call technical support and pray they can fix this for me
SCAL had to stop working with the Cricut machines because of law suits.
SCAL2 is the last software edition that worked, but only if you didn't update your firmware on the Cricut itself.
I found this list of firmware versions on a chat board. These are the latest that will work with SCAL2.
"If you're happily using SCAL then there is no need to update your Cricut firmware beyond the versions listed below. Keep in mind these are the highest supported firmware version numbers. If yours is a little less, don't worry.
Personal Cutter: 1.34
Create: 1.54
Cake Mini: 1.54
Expression: 2.35
Cake: 2.35
To check your Cricut firmware, just turn it on and watch the display. Depending on the model, you will see something like v.1.3 or v. 1.54 or v.2.3 or v.2.34, etc"
