A lot of people on this site use " Toba Garrett's glace' icing" you can find it under recipes. I use royal icing on all my cookies with and without edible images.
I use the royal icing recipe off of wilton merinque powder: 1 lb powdered sugar, 3tbs meringue powder, 6 tbs water. I put edible images on while icing is still wet.
