I've seen lots of tie dye cakes, and read some instructions for those cakes, but then I came across this one and can't get it out of my head! And ideas on how to get those amazing layers?

i think the basic prencipile is to make the cake batter divided into the number of colors you want and color each one with wat ever color u want.. then wat u do is start with lets say 1/4 measuring cup or more "depending on how think u want each color to be" of one color pouring it in the midle of the pan. then the next color.. poring it in the middle again.. keep doing that with all the colors what will happen is that each color will push the one befor it out and will give u that effect

its the same principle to the zebra cake though with the zebra cake u use only black and white.

hope that helped

Thanks for those tips...I like the idea of continuing to pour batter right in the middle...I was trying to pour it all around in different size circles and it just wasn't turning out like I wanted.
Zebra cake! I love that idea, too! Never even thought of a zebra cake on the inside!!

Thanks for the link, "VanillaCoke"...I didn't even realize mine didn't work! What's the correct what to add a link??
By the way, I made the tie dye cake this last weekend and it turned out great!! I layered my colored batters on top of each other tablespoon by tablespoon, letting it spread on its own. Mind you, I was only making 2-6"layers. I'm still waiting for a picture of the inside of the cake from when they sliced it, but I loved the way it looked when I leveled it (birds eye view). Pretty close to the picture in the link, but not quite AS perfect! Fancy food photography is my guess?! icon_confused.gif
Oh, one more note, I had some sticking problems with my first cake...something to do with how I was layering it all into the middle I'm guessing, but I was extra cautious the second time around and used parchment paper, non stick spray and flour icon_biggrin.gif Worked like a charm!

Can't wait to see. I'm thinking about doing this for my soon to be 9 year old.
