I've made margarita ones that were a big hit, and I've Irish Cream and Root beer float ones with root beer liquor. I do think the margarita ones were the best.

I like Chambord (raspberry liqueur) in cake with chocolate frosting or it's good in frosting also with chocolate cake

Cosmopolitan flavored cupcakes are my favorite!
I've also had pina colada cupcakes that were very tasty!

For St. Patrick's Day I made pistachio cupcakes (spiked with irish cream) and topped them with Bailey's Irish Cream buttercream. DELISH!!!

I'm loving this thread! It's nice to get some ideas for "grown up" cupcakes. LOL Hoping you all will share your recipes!

I like to spike a citrus cake with Grand Marnier and top it with chocolate frosting (sort of like a chocolate orange). The same idea works well with a chocolate cake spike with Chambord and raspberry buttercream.

I didn't think this would be great, but for St.Pats day for work, I made chocolate Bailey's cupcakes with Baileys vanilla buttercream. I think the
reason everyone liked it was because of the 'gentle' flavor and not over
powering flavor. I made margarita ones that went over big too. On cupcake challenge, the margarita one won the judges as well.

Instead of telling of flavors, how about we start a thread on the RECIPES for these yummy sounding combo's?

My wife has been experimenting with this for a while. One of our favorites is whipped dark chocolate ganache with Jack Daniels. Go light on the Jack and it complements the chocolate really well...go a little heavier and it's quite the kick in the pants.

Was watching an episode of DC cupcakes (boy those sisters are annoying, but anyway) and they created a mojito cupcake so I tried it. White cake substituted sum for water, addedfresh lime juice, lime zest, and finely chopped fresh mint. Frosted with buttercream with a little rum extract and lime zest, decorated with fresh mint leaf. I used real rum in the cake but since the frosting wasn't cooked I went with rum extract.

I'm from Kentucky so I use bourbon anyway I can.

I make a carrot cake cupcake and frost it with a Woodford Reserve (top shelf bourbon) cream cheese icing and finish with a caramel drizzle. These are AMAZING.
My dad died on the 15th of March and I made a few dozen cupcakes to take into the funeral home. I sat and watched one person eat FIVE of these cupcakes in one sitting, lol.

Kello,

Earlene's site has some interesting info, here's her Kahlua recipe (I made a much smaller batch) It's really good!
http://www.earlenescakes.com/recipes.htm

I have tried Martha Stewart's tiramisu cupcakes, and they're pretty good:
http://www.marthastewart.com/318067/tiramisu-cupcakes

But I actually prefer a much simpler recipe and method:
1. Add 1 tsp. instant espresso powder to your favorite vanilla cupcake batter, then bake as usual.
2. Brush the baked cupcakes with a mixture of Kahlua & rum.
3. Add 2 or 3 T. of Kahlua to your favorite cream cheese icing, then generously frost the cupcakes.
4. Dust with cocoa powder.

mango/peach/pecan with either cointreau if the fruit is on the sweet side or midori if it's tart.
