Can anyone give me a really good homemade chocolate buttercream recipe? I need one that crust well, and can decorate with. Thanks

this is one that I use and I like it alot

1/2 C veg short. (I use crisco)
1 stick butter, (1/2 C)
3/4 C cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla
4 C P. sugar

add milk Tbs at a time till it is the consistancy you want, I also add a little corn syrup, about 1 Tbs. I'm not sure why I do, but that is what my sister told me to do and she has been decorating cakes alot longer than i have, so I do what she says.

I love the one here on CC from serious_cakes titled Chocolate Buttercream (crusting). It's absolutely delicious, really does crust nicely and pipes beautifully!

I use the one on the back of the Hershey's Cocoa can. I usually double it and put in a whole 2# bag of powdered sugar. It crusts and can be smoothed the VIVA way. Yummy, too.
