I Had The Nicest Phone Call Today

from a customer who called me on friday for a cake on sunday. She had been to 2 local bakeries and was not happy with what she saw, or tasted. She brought a "goodie bag" with the theme of Maggie and the Monster (I think 
thats the name) and asked if I could decorate the cake to look like the bag. Well I wasnt going to take the order.. but I did.. I used the Wilton spray colors to make sky, grass and a large rock on the cake, which was frosted with whipped cream. Added a plastic palm tree.. cookie crumb pathway and candy rocks in the crumbs for the path. Also there was buttercream "grass" around the bottom edge with candy rocks. I couldnt duplicate the characters on rice paper so I color copied it and laminated so she could place it on the cake. She called today to say how THRILLED she was with how the cake turned out.. She said it was way more than she expected. This made my day!! 
That's great! Sometimes the one's you rush turn out the best.....no doubt because you didn't have the time to "fuss" over the details like we normally do!! lol I'd love to see a pic of the cake...It's "Maggie & the Ferocious Beast"...from Noggin TV...my boys love it! It's about Maggie and her imaginary friends Franklin the Pig and Ferocious Beast...just adorable. So glad your customer was happy...sure she'll be back to you in the future!
