I have every colour of candy melts except the one i need! Is it possible to add sugarpaste gel colour to white candy melts?

I don't know about sugarpaste gel but Wilton makes coloring just for coloring white chocolate

If you add gel colors to chocolate, it causes the chocolate to streak. Not sure what the technical term is, but it does not look pretty. Unless it's for a really small area, I would not recommend it. Like previous poster said, Wilton's colors for chocolate or there is a powder coloring. HTH!

You must use special candy/chocolate coloring. Wilton makes it. Have you tried mixing different color candy melts to come up with the color you need?

I didn't know that Wilton made Chocolate coloring. I will have to source that out.

We don't have a lot of colors around here so it can be hard at times. I generally just mix the melts I have to get different colors. Although that can be a challenge at times.

Most Michael's craft stores sell a good assortment of Wilton coloring for candy melts.

Oil Candy color is used to color chocolate and chocolate-based products.

I always color my candy melts for writting, I use Americolor or Wilton gel colors & never had a problem, you can check my pictures

I just had an issue with coloring candy melts over the weekend! We tried regular AmeriColor blue coloring and it instantly thickened the melts and ruined the consistency. We went to Joann's and found the Wilton candy coloring and it worked like a charm. I think we paid around $3.50-$4.00 for the set of primary colors.

My only issue is that they don't color very well....in my experience, I needed to use a LOT of the coloring to change shades.

Another thing you can try is using AmeriColor Color Flo. When used with regular paste or gel colorings it will prevent the candy from thickening. However, depending on how much coloring I need, I may need a lot of Color Flo, and I can detest a "not so good" taste when adding more than a few drops of it.
