i think these are called truffles, not sure. i made some with peanut butter filling and the chocolate candy melts surrounding the filling this weekend, and brought leftovers in to work today. someone loved them so much she ordered 2 doz for a party in 2 weeks! i am so excited but have no clue how much to charge for them. i can find out how much they cost me to make, but was wondering if anyone else sells these so i have a 'going rate' type of thing.

I have been selling candy since 1978. I don't make truffles, though. I list all my ingredients. Don't forget packaging as well. Then I triple it. If after that I think it needs to be more or less, then I adjust.

thanks for your reply helen but i'm a little confused...you triple the packaging you use, or you triple the cost after you add everything up?

i figured about $1 per piece, but when i stepped back and thought about it, figured that was kind of high.

Honestly, I think it depends on the filling you use. Like for peanut butter fillied, I think $24 is fair...I would pay that. But if you put say a marichino cherry in the center with a little syrup. I would probably charge $36 for two dozen. Hope that makes sense. I agree with figuring the cost and then tripling whatever that amount is. I think that is the best way to be consistant in your pricing.

I did an internet search and it seems the "going price" for filled chocolates is about $24.99 a pound. How much do you think 2 dozen would weigh?

Rainbow, what I meant is to list all your ingredients, including all your packaging. Then triple it. Then adjust. HTH.
