Hi

I currently have a cake to make and i have made some sugar roses but im not sure how i can fix them to the cake. I dont want to use a flower pick and i want them in different places on the cake, can someone suggest a way of fixing the securley to the cake?

If the flowers are wired (nearly all of mine are) stick it in. If not, gum glue.

Yes they are wired, will they be ok wrapped in florist take and then stuck in or shall i just stick them in with the bare wire, wil the wire be ok?

a couple of week back someone here advised not to stick wire into the cake. they also suggested to place melted candy melts into a straw, insert the staw into the cake and then insert the wire into the candy melt thats in the staw. hope you can understand what i am trying to explain. hth

Dont stick the wire into the cake. Put them in drinking straws or stick them on top with melted chocolate. You can also dip the stems in melted chocolate but I would prefer the straws.

Candy melts are small round disks of chocolate. They melt easily in the microwave. We find them here in the US at WalMart and at Michaels.

What could i use instead of candy melts? Just any chocolate? Melt it put it in the straw then let it go hard then put the flowers in am i right here?

Let me ask this - are you planning to wrap your wires or is the plan to leave them bare?

Ive wrapped them in florist tape at the moment, but i can always take that off. What way would you suggest to do it?

Coffee stirers are about the right size for wired flowers, I have used in the past and they worked for me.

If the flowers are going on top you can create a mound of fondant on top and stick the wires in that, this also allows you to slide flowers in from the side.

I pipe some royal icing into my straws using a very small tip, insert the wire and let them dry. Then I stick it into the cake.
