Some people love this recipe, but I thought it was too crumbly. I tend to use a doctored cake mix when making red velvet cake. The only way to know if you like it or not is to give it a try. thumbs_up.gif

I've made this recipe several times and all but one of my customers loved it. So now im searching for a new recipe to try as one complaint was one too many.

I happen to like the recipe. Two things though. I usually only bake 2 - 8" rounds with one batch not 2 - 9" rounds like the recipe says (I think...). Also you have to be very careful not to over bake the recipe. It will taste sort of burnt. I use it all the time with good results. Yes, I would say that it would seem dry compared to any doctored cake mix recipe, a lot of scratch cakes do. I find it is a recipe I wait till the last minute to bake as it does tend to dry out faster in my experience. It makes fabulous cake balls icon_smile.gif

I use Cakeman Raven's with a few tweaks. It seems to be a crowd pleaser.

I use Martha Stewart's recipe as well. It is not good for large sculpting projects, though. Very tasty!

I like Paula Deen's red velvet cake, but I use a cream cheese frosting. Her recipe is on Food Network's site. As far as grammar, I think a lot of people just write like they text. Everyone says I need to get on board with texting, but it hurts my feelings to use all of those abbreviations and sentence fragments. I don't judge anyone's writing. I think I am getting to the age where I need glasses. I make more mistakes now than I ever have.

I like Paula Deen'srecipe too and I generally do not like red velvet cake! It is very dense cake and MUST be served at room temp.
