First I agree with everyone for the most part. But..

Never use the excuse, you got a good deal. To me you would be saying your promise is pretty empty. You promised a $700 cake for $250. That's the end of that. You could have charged more, you chose not to.

OK - anywho.......

I agree, you were there - were cake plates empty... and I've been to a ton of weddings. Maybe one or two people complain to the person paying, if any at all. But no more than that.

I agree that there really wasn't many people that would complain about a cake to the person who paid for it, or their family.

I sat at a table at a friend's reception with 3 other couples who I did all their wedding cakes. I didn't do the cake that time, as it was a gift from an older friend of theirs, and boy, did it suck! It was scratch, and it was horrible. I said it seemed like she forgot sugar, and that was being kind, cause I didn't want to seem jealous. We were all cracking up, it was so bad, but we were whispering and didn't want it to get to the bride or groom that we thought the cake was crap.

I would rather make 1 cake for $150, than 3 for $50 each.

The person who works for nothing will always have plenty to do!

My sarcasm is good-humored. People generally really like me, in person ;-)
