Hi! I'm new on forums here at cake central! But I really would apreciate your help. I was asked to make this cake covered in what I assume are petals. My first guess was to pipe them, then I thought I could make them out of gumpaste and fondant, but I don't know what kind of petals they are, if I have to make them one by one, or if I could make them all together in a row.... any ideas are welcome!!! Thank you!!!!

By the way I'm trying to attach the image but I can't... LOL!!

I can't click on the link but I am guessing the cake is something like this http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1957471/, which is really popular right now.

This looks like it has individual petals cut out. If you want to frill the edges and give them a more natural look, you will want to use a fondant/gumpaste mix. If you can find a cutter with a nice ruffled edge, that will be less work. I haven't seen one yet that would work for these cakes so I think most of them have individual hand cut ruffles.

Good luck!

If it's the cake in the link posted above here's what the decorater posted
pood says:
"Thanks so much to everyone for the compliments! The design is fluted circles laid on top of each other. I can't take credit for the design, I saw it on CC and just had to try it. I'm not sure who did the one I saw."

try copy/pasting the url to the comments. Sometimes adding a link doesnt work :\\ I'm very curious to see what cake you have in mind!
