I am doing a cake that is a 1/2sheet cut in hale length wise filled with buttercream with a one layer mickey head on top do I need to use a board and towels under mickey I don't want him to sink.

I would. If you set him on the cake withouth support he would not be stabel at all.

Yes, dowel and set the head on a board or it will sink. You may not think it is very heavy but as it settles it will definitely sink and split the cake below. Good luck and post a picture.

i would. and i would also run a dowel thru his head thru the sheet cake....so he doesnt fall over. he'll be top heavy. good luck.

be sure and put cardboard or foam core underneath the head before you rest it on the supports though, if you don't the supports will go straight through the head when it sinks
