Cricut Cake User....what Would You Like To See?

What are some new features you like to see in the Cricut Cake Machines?
For me....
1. The ability to cut repeated patterns as one whole piece....like when cutting a border...I'd like to be able to select two sections and have them cutout as a single piece rather than two pieces...I don't like seeing all those seems around the cake.
2. A petals cartridge.....rose, lily, orchid, tulip....and flat petal or leaf....that way you could cut any size you needed without having to keep up with a myriad of different cutter sets.
What would the rest of you like to see?
All you need is either Make the Cut or Sure Cuts a Lot 2 software to accomplish both of your needs. No more buying cartridges - use your computer to cut anything you want with the Circut or other digital cutter. Either program is less than one premium cartridge.

I've heard of both those programs on this board....I wonder if there are any demos on YouTube....I'd like to see how they work.
Search You Tube - there are several demos. You can also download free trial versions. You can't cut with the trial versions (a big X will cut in the middle of the design), but you can see the different features.
The gumpaste and fondant/gumpaste that works well with the cricut as far as cutting, doens't lend itself very well to some of the techniques used in making t as impossible for me to "thin" the edge of my petals. Insteaad it curled/ruffled them. At least that's the experience that I had.
You can get cartridges for under $25 (many under $20) on various online sites, so they aren't as huge of an investment as some may have you believe. I just picked up a bundle from one of these sites for $65 with S&H and it came with 4 cartridges. As for #1, you need design studio. It lets you change pics, weld them together, etc.
SCAL also offers a free trisl version. I definitely like the idea of a petals cartridge though!
What are some new features you like to see in the Circut Cake Machines?
1. I would like to be able to hook it up to my computer & create my own cut
2. Piggy backing on the first ... I would like to do a silhouette of a pic
3. I also would like to be able to make a stencil (even if I have to get the paper circut along with the one I already have)
SN. I would like to get some of the cartridges that are only available on HSN....I don't have cable & by the time I hear of them the offer has already ended
That's all for now

You can do 1-3 above with make the cut software. I've made stencils with the cake cricut and the deep cut housing and blade.

Ask and it shall be given to you... l0l
Thank you ... where do I get the make the cut software? & is there a certain cable to hook it up to the computer?
Do a google search for make the cut or you can get it from Linda McClure's website. You will need a usb cable to connect to your computer.

I took your advise and checked out SCAL2....loved it....downloaded it! I created a border for a cake i need this week and made each strip 2 inches wide and got 3 to a mat....they cut out great....I love being able to "weld" the sections into one long piece.
I also downloaded many free fonts from www.dafont.com I found a script I really like, and was able to weld the letters into a continous piece....this will be so handly for cutting out messages....hate writing by hand, and I find a GP plaque looks much more dressy too....no more having to fool with edible images....the sheets run into money after a while.
Thanks for the tip!!!
I also have SCAL2, and enjoy the freedom to create new things.
I took my cricut to a GS troop party this weekend- lots of fun! I made the Linda McClure gumpaste, but it was still very soft- cut fine, but hard to work with after. What are you all using? Should I knead more sugar in to make it firmer?
Tiggy2 - what do you use to make the stencil. I was looking up food safe plastic to use for a stencil, but haven't gotten a good feel for what I should use, what thickness, where I should get it from, etc. I would love to use the cricut for stencils!
I use MTC, and simply love it! Total freedom to do whatever comes to my mind
This is the only use I have for Wilton fondant... sticks to the mat, easy to roll thin and easy to lift and dries fine. I cover my cakes with Duff's, which is definitively not meant for Cricut.
Tiggy2 - Thanks! I am totally on that!
What_A_Cake - I am going to try the Wilton fondant for my Cricut Cake. I have been adding a bunch of tylose powder to my MMF, rolling it thin, leaving it out to dry and have been having no success! Perhaps the Wilton fondant is the way to go. Or gum paste, which I haven't tried yet.

I've tried several and got the best results with Satin Ice rolled to a #6 or #7 on my pasta machine, then placed on the mat and chilled for about 10 minutes in the freezer.
I would like the HappyBirthday button to work on mine! It just absolutely will not work, and its new!

It took me a while to figure it out....
1. Push the Plain Phrase button....you'll see the faint happy bday.
2. Push the double scalloped trim button....sorta on the lower left....if you look in the book, you'll see the designs on the left, then to the right are all the other cuts assigned to that button through shift, plain phrase, etc.
3. Size then press cut.

plain phrase button?
Good Question... Oi vey do I have a few, Cricut, are you listening???
1. Standardized sizing: I have 6 different cartridges, and 2" means something totally different on each one. NOTHING is more frustrating or a time hog for me to roll out my fondant, wait 30 minutes or so to have it sit, finally pop it into the machine and the thing starts cutting my image either way too big or way too small. So I have to start all over again, but now my fondant is hard so I have to spend time re-working it to soften it back up enough to roll thinly on the mat again, then wait for it to firm back up. Then if I switch cartridges to use another image for the same cake, the perfect size I finally found on cartridge X is NOT perfect on cartridge Y, so rinse & repeat. 2 hours later I might have a decorated cake, or I might be still yelling at my Cricut wondering WHY it's not cutting stuff the same size.
2. I want a button for the size of the cake and have the machine figure out the mystery size to make the message fit within that size range. So, 6" cake button will cut a Happy Birthday that will fit on top of a 6" cake etc. This is a major oversight to me! The sizing chart in the book never works either. It's all a big guessing game.
3. I want the fonts for individual letters to actually match the font they used for the predetermined messages. I haven't found a single cartridge that will let me spell out someone's name in the same font as that Happy Birthday on the same cartridge. Major irritated at that one.
I could go on and on...
Sigh.

plain phrase button?
Yep....first column of gray buttons on the left side of the machine, third down when using the cake basics keyboard overlay.
Push it, then the double swag button ...last one in the first row of white buttons on the left side of the cake basics keyboard overlay.
omg it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You sooooooo much!!!! I put your directions in the book lol
What-a-cake: I used Duff's fondant on one of my cakes with the cricut. You have to roll it out super thin (I use a pasta machine) and then roll it out on the mat even more. Then I put it in the freezer and cut with it-no problem!
