In my case, I have a few moms who order their kids bday cakes from me, most have been doing it for at least 3 years. Lately, it seems I am getting a lot of last minute calls and of course I do the order cuz they are regulars. But, I was wondering if it may help to send a reminder note maybe 2-3 weeks before to try and prevent the last minute thing.

I mean, I know these moms are busy and don't mean to be difficult, they are super easy to work with. I was thinking from an organization stand point for me and a customer service point for them.

Does anyone do this? How do you go about it? Any thoughts or opinions?

I only send out a reminder/two weeks notice for clients who have come to me in advance and placed their order. The day before I also send a reminder as well with the time for their pickup (amazingly a lot of people will forget their pickup arrangement). I don't remind anyone to place an order though.

Being the only employee, I have to take orders on a first to commit basis. For me I'm just as busy as some of my clients, so if they want something they have to let me know in advance as the dates can book up quick.

Do you have a website where it mentions how far in advance clients should give you notice? This will help nip some of the last minute calls; not all but some.
