Painting fondant with food coloring

I am trying to paint my fondant with food coloring. On the Wilton site it said to mix with Vodka. The issue I have is what is the ratio mixture suppose to be? Please help with any tips or techniques.

Add just enough to make it easy to work with. I'd say start with a 1/2 t. If you add too much you will just make it a lighter color, if you didn't add enough you'll know cause it won't paint smoothly. hth

There isn't an exact ratio. You need enough to thin it out, but not soo much that it is completely watered down. I like using a kid's medicine dropper when I mix alcohol with colors or dusts.

I painted with gels once and didn't have any trouble with the color going on smoothly. The problem was that the next day, the "paint" still wasn't dry. Would adding vodka help with this?

Vodka is the prefect ingredient to thin your colors down to paintable consistancy. It also evaporates quickly, so the paint dries faster.
