This is the first time I am airbrushing a cake. It's iced in buttercream (it's a Darth Vader cake) and I airbrushed the whole thing black. But, I'm noticing that after it's been sitting for awhile, it's starting to turn green! Do I need to use more color, or is something else going on?

I'd use more color and spray it again (two or three coats) if you can... it might be the brand of food coloring you are using, but hopefully, if it's dark enough it won't happen again.

Hopefully you used chocolate buttercream, and spray it a few more times.

speaking of which, if you didn't use choc. BC you may want to try hitting the cake with a layer of brown airbrush (and again with the black)- the brown will balance out any green tones going on. In fact when I make black icing, I always add red gel along with the black to remove any blue/green-ishness (lol-I just made up a new word, I think)!

lol, yep, new word. A thread should be started on the new words we come up with.

I'm using Kroma Kolor ink. That's a good idea with the brown - I'll try that next time. In general, do I have to be careful about colors fading to another shade, or is it just with the black?
